Time is a Valuable Gift, Using it Wisely

Changing How We Use  Our Time

Time is a valuable gift, learning to use it wisely. Changing how we use our time is very important, it can change your life because at some point we all run out of time. Some run out of time at a young age, others much older. We do not know when our time runs out which makes it that much more important to learn to use our time wisely.
Are you living your life to its fullest, going toward your dreams and goals? Are you spending time making happy memories with family and friends or wasting your time on things that really do not matter? Are you living the same routine day after day, nothing ever-changing like you are stuck in a rut or are you content?
I was thinking about time today and all the songs that were written about time.
These are just a few that came to my mind:
♪ ♫ Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future.
♪ ♫ If I could turn back time
♪ ♫ Time passages
♪ ♫Time marches on
♪ ♫ Time

and this one is not a song but from an old soap opera – As sands through an hourglass, so are the days of our lives
(* Just FYI I do not watch any soaps, I don’t like them, they are not for me.)
These got me to thinking, it’s very true, we can’t stop time…  and just how important time is! There are so many songs written about time which shows a lot of people think about time. We can’t control time but we can control how we spend our time. We may not be able to just hang out at the beach all day because we need to work and take care of our responsibilities. We do have control over our actions and attitude while we work and take care of our responsibilities. If we are pleasant and surround ourselves with pleasant people, our time will also be more pleasant… however, we can’t choose our coworkers and not everyone has the wisdom to choose to walk in peace. We live in the real world and that means not every day will be pleasant.
Are you that coworker, family member or friend who complains all day, and brings everyone down, hard to get along with and just doesn’t seem to care how you affect others? Is that really how you want to spend your time? Everyone has problems but that doesn’t mean we need to make sure everyone knows all about it and try to make everyone else as miserable as you are.  There is a saying I really like it says: Not everyone will remember what you said or what you did but they will never forget how you made them feel. I love that.
I feel everyone needs to read and realize how we are really sending our time, Look at these stats.

Time is the most valuable thing we have. It is also the most valuable gift you can give someone or receive from someone else. Time is a gift.

Once you have spent your time you can’t get it back. You hear people all the time say things like, ” If I had it to do over again I would do…”
Time is so precious there are no refunds and no do-overs. That’s why it’s so important to spend the time we have wisely. We need to make wise choices in what we do, what we say, and where we go, simply because we can not turn back time. Time really does keep slipping into the future. I do want to make a difference for the better while I am here, don’t you?
The time we spend getting closer to God, family, and friends is never a waste of our time.
Working to provide for our family, trying to work on our health, taking care of our home or getting a better education is not a waste of time…but we have to make sure its balanced, too much time on any one thing can prevent us from building the relationships with those we love. Relationships are the most important thing we can spend our time on beginning with our relationship with God.
Have you ever thought that when you have a baby you only have 18 Christmases or 18 birthday celebrations with them before they are adults? Looking at it that way helps put things into perspective.

Time spent helping others, making memories with family and friends and showing the love of God to those around us are things we will never regret. Even something as small as sharing a smile or a sincere compliment with someone can bring joy. We need to learn to enjoy the simple things in life as well as the big events because we have many more opportunities to enjoy the simple things than always looking forward to a vacation or an event that only occurs ever so often. An example is looking forward to Christmas, that only happens once a year… we need to get away from the ” I’ll be happy when syndrome”.  When we say things like that we limit the time we could be enjoying our lives.
I think what will help us in spending our time more wisely and being happier is by doing the following.
We need to begin by realizing we can’t change the past and we need to let go of past regrets except to learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them.
You can’t change yesterday but you can choose to spend your time wisely from this day forward.
You can not take back words that should not have been spoken but you can say,”I’m sorry” and try to move forward.
This may not take away the hurt the words caused but it can make a difference to the relationship. Forgive yourself and others for things that happened in the past, this will set you free.
From this day forward we need to think before we speak, this will help do away with future regrets. Take time to consider the repercussion of your actions, your words, your choices before you act. This is a wonderful way to change your life as well as those around you but it will take time to develop this new habit.
We should dream and set goals, and make plans to obtain them. Take one day at a time.
I like the quote that says:
Yesterday is gone,
tomorrow is not here.
Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called” the present.”
Live in today, one day at a time, one choice at a time.

Your Gift of Time
What will you do with your “gift of time” today? Will you spread joy, peace, and love or cause pain and negativity? The choice is yours. I like these quotes…
Life and time are the two best teachers. Life teaches us to make good use of our time and time teaches us the value of life.
Time is a tricky gift, Time is free, but it is priceless. You can’t own it but you can invest in it, or spend it, or waste it. Stick to your plans or lose the time you have been gifted.
Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like and learn to find joy in the story you are actually living.

Time is ticking, do not allow time wasters to steal the life you could be living. One such distraction is TV. I’m not saying do not ever watch TV. I am saying do not sit on a sofa watching other people live life, at the end of the day, you have just sat on a sofa watching other people live life. The thing is that while you were watching those programs, you could have taken a walk to improve your health, talked to an old friend on the phone, improved something in your home, started on that book you wanted to write… you fill in the blank. There is a time to watch a TV program you enjoy watching while you relax but do not make it an everyday occurrence just sitting in front of the TV for hours. Habits do not take long to form and before you know it that’s just how you spend your time. You will be stuck in a rut. If that is where you are now, don’t stay there. Start living life, turn the TV off, you have the remote. Begin some new habits, your life will be better for it.

Start a Time Journal
Start a Time journal and record how you spent your day. Write down what you did, what you ate ( this is for your health). What made you smile today and remember to enjoy the simple things … so even things like seeing a red bird or seeing a beautiful butterfly or flower… listening to the rain on the front porch. Someone taking time to see how you are doing. Write down what you are thankful for.

Make a list of things you enjoy that you would like to do

We definitely need to learn to enjoy the little things, by doing this you expand your horizons of things that can make your day happier.
Make a list of the little things that you enjoy and incorporate them into your life, here is an example of some of mine.

*Taking a ride in the country to look at the fall colored leaves
*Taking a ride during Christmas to look at the twinkle lights, I love twinkle lights.
*Having a fire in the fireplace drinking cocoa or coffee and watching a “feel good” movie with friends or alone.
*Taking a day trip to the mountains or the beach… or your favorite park
*Taking a walk with a friend, enjoying nature and the conversation.*( In conversations make a rule to talk about positive things, uplifting things that elevate your mood, not things that are negative and bring you both down and is full of complaining.)
*Going to lunch with a friend
*Sitting around a fire pit with family or friends making smores
*Start a Bible study or do one on your own
*Try something new
*Do something that will make you healthier.. walks, hikes, bike, yoga class etc…(choose something you will enjoy or you will not stick with it)
**The possibilities are only limited by your imagination
Sometimes the best way to spend your time may be by helping a friend, doing things that will make someone else’s day better not necessarily something just for you, such as calling a friend who is feeling down or taking a sick friend some soup calling someone who is lonely. Helping others is never a waste of time unless it’s a person who always uses others and doesn’t do anything to help themselves. I encourage you to make a list of your own and do something each day that makes you smile or helps someone.
Make a decision today to change how you use your time.
Starting where you are now, begin your day with God… say a prayer before you get out of bed.  Read a chapter out of the Bible. talk to God, tell him you love him and thank him for the gift of time, of life and the ability to make better choices. Be Thankful. If you do not have a journal get one or a spiral notebook that you can use for your Time Journal.
If the rest of your day isn’t perfect, it’s alright. You started your day off right. Make it your mission to be on the lookout for the simple things throughout your day that is good. Make better choices and think before you act or speak.

We just lost a young man who I used to babysit for when I was younger, it was unexpected and such a terrible loss.  One day he was here living life and enjoying his family and friends, the next day he was not. We do not know how long we have on earth. We need to, first of all, make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, because our bodies are temporary… but our spirits live forever. We spend a lot of time preparing for our lives on earth but our life here is temporary, like a vapor.  Our next life will last forever, shouldn’t we prepare even more for what lasts forever?
He loves us dearly and wants the best for us. That’s why he sets boundaries in his word, so that we may live a good life.  I also think we should fulfill the calling on our life, it could be as an encourager, a writer or whatever he placed in you that you do so well. Live life to its fullest, enjoy life, take time to leave a legacy that you would be proud of. I’m not saying monetary things… I mean a legacy where people who would say things about you like ” they helped me when I needed it” or “They were such a good, kind person.” They knew how to love, and the love of God was evident in their life” … “They made me feel better, just being around them.” “They listened and cared about others”…. things like that… making a difference in peoples lives for the better.

Time can’t be stopped, time marches on, it can’t be turned back or done over … Live one day at a time, making wise decisions about how we use our time. Making the most of our life and living a happier more fulfilled life. Most of all making sure we are ready to meet Jesus when our time runs out. Because when we begin the next life it will be forever. I hope you choose to make heaven your home. If you are not sure if you are saved or have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior I have a prayer attached for you to pray below the scriptures.

It’s just a matter of time, spend it wisely ♥
She Chose Grace

Psalms 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Ephesians 5:15-17   15 Be very careful, then how you live – not as unwise but as wise. 16 Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today… ” Take one day at a time.”
James 4:14    Whereas you know not what shall happen tomorrow. For what is life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.

The Sinners Prayer is below this paragraph:
Pray this prayer below and if you are sinning, repent. Repent means to stop. Get in a Bible-based church where you can learn more and use your talents for Christ. Read your Bible because you need to change the way you think and line your thinking up with Gods word. The Modern English Version or the Amplified  Bibles are easy to understand. You are worth the investment because the next life lasts forever.
